Equine mortality and theft INSURANCE
An Equine Mortality Insurance Policy is an all perils life insurance policy for your horse. You are covered against theft of your horse or loss from a covered accident, illness, disease, injury or humane destruction.
The Mortality Premium for an equine insurance policy is based on the horse's age, breed, sex, use/level and value. To get an emailed equine insurance quote, go to our Quote Page or call our office at 800-347-3552 or (818) 848-0443 (Burbank, CA) and we will be happy to provide you with a horse insurance quote over the phone.
The equine insurance companies that we work with usually also include a free Emergency Colic Surgery (ECS) endorsement as part of the equine mortality policy, for horses without a history of colic or other gastro-intestinal issues. The ECS coverage limit depends on the insurance company coverage is placed with, and while it would only cover a portion of the costs associated with colic surgery, it is a valuable benefit.
Equine medical/vet services INSURANCE
An Equine Medical Insurance or Vet Services Insurance plan for horses is a sort of equine health insurance plan. It provides benefits when your horse becomes ill, injured or diseased. It covers a portion of diagnostic testing, medical treatment and surgical services, as well as aftercare treatment. Deductibles are reasonable and benefits are generous. Surgical coverage is also available.
Loss of use
If your horse is protected by an Equine Loss of Use (LOU) endorsement, it pays you a specified percentage of the insured value of your horse if it becomes permanently unfit for use due to injury, illness or disease, but does not require destruction for humane reasons. There are two types of LOU endorsements: 1) Accidental, and 2) Degenerative. You may only insure the horse for a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $100,000. The age limits for this type of coverage are 1 year to 12 years old. Please contact EMO for further details.
